Probably the most memorable of sayings for me is, “an apple a day, keeps the doctor away!”  Yeah, there are many others, but apples are so yummy, and so very good for you, I decided I would write about them today.  Apples are one of my favorite fruits.  They are extremely low in calories, and contain no fat, sodium or cholesterol.  They are full of fiber, and they actually taste good. They even contain the so called phytochemicals that may help our bodies fight disease. It is also said that apples can reduce bad cholesterol, reduce your risk of stroke and some types of cancers.

When picking apples you should choose apples with firm skin, no bruises, cuts or gouges.  Try to pick the ones with the best color and smell.  When storing them, they can absorb other odors in the refrigerator.  Once you cut the apple, you can keep it from turning brown by dipping them in one part lemon juice and three parts water.

There are always several apple varieties available in the grocery stores.  I have only tried half of the different types of apples there are, and I can tell you that you haven’t tried an apple til you have had a “Pink Lady.”

Every once in a while, I get on the computer and I am at a loss for words.  I sit here and try to think of something that really makes me want to write about it, and nothing comes to mind.  Unfortunately, this is one of those days…lol.

There is a lot going on in our lives right now, and there is probably a lot that I could write about than I can think of right now.   I guess one of the most important things that comes to mind is the fact that our family is doing the right thing, about moving back to Arizona.  It just feels like it is the best thing to do.  Packing and moving are not going to be fun, but being back in the area that most of our family lives is going to be great for everyone.  The kids really miss their friends too, and I just think we all need a does of happy right now.  Things have not been so great around here for us.  I mean, they could really be a lot worse, but they are the worst that they have ever been for us, ever.  They have been so good about it too.  Eating beans and rice just about every day is not as fun as it may seem.  The good news is that we are probably a little healthier for it.  We drink a lot more water, and food prepared at home.  I haven’t had a soda in five months and my husband has not had one in over two.  It has been nice, and I feel better for not having that stuff in my body.

My daughter won third place in the School District, History fair, last weekend.  She created a website to go with her report, and did an awesome job putting it all together.  She is really creative, and talented in so many ways.  I can’t believe how much she has grown.

We are going to pack everything this weekend, so I don’t have to miss any work, and when we leave, I will only miss one day of work and that will be next Friday.  We are going to try to go as far as we can on Friday, hopefully we will make it to Tucson.  That is where our future daughter-in-law lives and we will be staying with her for the night.  Oh, well, this is all I have for today…..have a great night.  I promise I will find something more interesting to write about tomorrow.  I just have an awful headache, again.
